City Parks

The city maintains 11 parks with 106 acres, which feature ball fields, play systems, picnic pavilions, volleyball courts, tennis courts, archery range, multiuse trails, open-park land, and other amenities detailed below. Pavilions may be reserved by residents for social functions by contacting the Parks and Recreation Department at 314-521-4661.

The city parks are maintained by the Park Maintenance Division of Ferguson's Public Works Department with coordination from the Parks and Recreation Department.

Picnic Tables & Pavilions
Picnic tables are available to use in Ferguson parks on a first-come, first-served basis. Pavilions located at January-Wabash, Forestwood, and Hudson Parks may be reserved by Ferguson residents for $25 except for the Bandshell which may be reserved for $50.

The pavilions have up to six picnic tables and can accommodate around 60 people. Due to the popularity of pavilion permits, reservations need to be made well in advance and no later than one week prior to the picnic. Print out the park pavilion request and bring to the Parks and Recreation Office with valid identification and payment. Reservations for the calendar year begin the first day open in January each year.

Pavilion rental does not include use of the Splash at Wabash Aquatic Facility; weekends at the Splash are for Ferguson residents only.

Fishing is permitted in January-Wabash Lake. A City of Ferguson license is not required, but fishermen must comply with all state of Missouri fishing regulations, including a state fishing license for persons 16 to 64 years of age.

Missouri Department of Conservation
The Missouri Department of Conservation stocks, enforces daily limits, and helps manage the lake through its Urban Fishing Program. Part of the program includes the stocking of trout biweekly, November through February. Ferguson police officers enforce limits and permits. Call the Missouri Department of Conservation at 636-300-9651 for stocking information for all area lakes.
