City Courts

The Municipal Court is the judicial branch of the city government and has jurisdiction over all cases involving violations of the provisions of the Ferguson charter, code, and other ordinances of the city.

Hours of Operation 
Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.  Payment Window closes at 4:30 p.m.
Payment Window will close at 3:30 p.m. on Thursdays when court is in session.

Municipal Judge
The court is presided over by the municipal judge who is appointed by the City Council on the nomination of the city manager for a term of two years. Cases handled by the municipal court consist primarily of:
  • Zoning / Building violations
  • Traffic violations
  • Non-traffic violations (shoplifting, assault, nuisances, narcotics and liquor violations, peace disturbances, etc.)

Court Sessions
Three sessions are held by the court per month (two night and one day sessions) in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Please see the Municipal Court Calendar for court dates and times.
