    On Monday, June 23rd, FYI kick’s off its latest program to engage and enrich the lives of community youth with “Next Steps.” This 5 week program is designed to familiarize students with employment strategies including dressing for success & a professional image, communicating in the workplace and understanding personality/employment quizzes. Included for discussion is the preparation of letters, resume, interviewing techniques and professional behavior. The program will also address different school and employment options, present guest speakers and provide field trips to schools and/or employment interest. Lastly, the students will prepare a short biography that they are able to use for future endeavors.

    The St. Louis Byte Works Earn-a-Computer program aims to teach kids that they can set goals — and reach them. We believe that everyone deserves the chance to dream, and to follow those dreams, by challenging themselves, testing their abilities and reaching for more. During this free six-week program, kids attend a series of hands-on courses. The courses are designed for 4th-8th grade students.

    ServiceWorks, a new program developed by AmeriCorps, Points of Light, and Citi Foundation in partnership with the United Way of Greater St. Louis, will help students aged 16- 24 in St. Louis develop professional skills and find success in their education while engaging them in community service. ServiceWorks has four primary components: a 10-module curriculum that will train the participants in professional skills like networking and communicating across difference, three service projects supplemented by a capstone project organized by the participating students, one-on-one and small-group mentoring sessions with Success Coaches, and workshop sessions led by volunteer Module Facilitators.
