Community Development Code Compliance

Inspection Requirements

The City of Ferguson requires an occupancy inspection anytime a structure changes use, tenant, or owner. Occupancy Inspections are $115. You can apply online here.

Additional inspections may be initiated by an inspector or as a result of a complaint. We are confident that, working together, we can keep our city looking good.

Community Development handles permits for construction, including; mechanical, electrical, plumbing, new construction, alterations, and accessory structures, and Planning and Zoning permits, such as; subdivision, vacates, variances, lot consolidations, and boundary adjustments.. We also process applications for Certificates of Occupancy.  The permits we do NOT handle are sewer laterals, dumpsters, grading, demolition, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, or potable water.

Summer Months - Grass Violations

During the warmer months of the year, the Community Development Liaison will be looking for properties with tall grass and weeds that violate the municipal code. Grass and weeds must be kept below eight inches to avoid a citation.

If there is no response to the warning notice within three days, the city will have the grass cut at the owner's expense.
