The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) will be studying proposed improvements to the sanitary sewer system and/or stormwater drainage system in the City of Ferguson. MSD has contracted with Amec Foster Wheeler, Environmental & Infrastructure, Inc. to study and design the proposed improvements. The title of this project is Suburban I/I Reduction (Harrison Ave and Suburban Ave) and the project number is 12222.
The general area for this project extends from Henquin Drive on the west, to Natural Walter Drive to the north, to N. Dade Avenue on the east, and to Airport Road on the south. Field surveys will be taking place in parts of this area beginning February 9, 2015 and will last for about one month. The field surveys will be performed by Kowelman Engineering, Inc. The surveying will primarily occur along the route of the existing sewers and/or along the creek channel. They will be measuring the elevations of the houses along the route and may need to enter some houses to obtain accurate measurements of the basement elevations.
Soil borings will also be taken within the project area and are currently scheduled to occur during March and April of this year. The soils investigations will be performed by Kaskaskia Engineering Group, L.L.C.
