City of Ferguson, Missouri Announces Street Project on Canfield Drive
FERGUSON, Mo., May 20 – Mayor James Knowles III and the Ferguson City Council announced today that Canfield Drive in Ferguson, Mo. will be resurfaced and repaved by the end of this week.
City officials held a joint press conference with Michael Brown, Sr. to announce the project. Mayor Knowles said Lipton Property Management Company, the owner of Canfield Green Apartments, will pay for the project. All parties agree that the memorial in the middle of the street is unsafe for drivers and visitors to the site.
“We understand this situation is not easy for all parties involved,” said Knowles. “This event will forever be a part of Ferguson’s history - but it is important that the community moves forward.”
The announcement comes as the City of Ferguson prepares for its third town hall meeting that will take place on May 28 at 7:00 p.m. at the Ferguson Community Center.
“We want to continue our transparency with residents and business owners,” said Knowles. “The town hall meeting will focus on community policing.”
