Ferguson Police Detectives, working with U.S. Marshals, have taken a suspect into custody in reference to the shooting death of 9-year old Jamyla Bolden. This arrest is the result of a week long investigation by the Ferguson Police Detective Bureau in conjunction with the U.S. Marshal’s Office and the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
The suspect is identified as:
21 year old De’Eris Marquan Brown of O’Fallon, MO. Brown is being charged with (2) two counts of Unlawful use of a weapon, (3) three counts of armed criminal action and (1) one count of Murder in the second degree.
The shooting occurred at 9:38 pm, on August 18th in the 9200 Block of Ellison. Jamyla and her 34 year old mother were within their residence when an unknown assailant shot both the daughter and mother. Jamyla was later pronounced deceased from the gunshot wound and the mother received a gunshot wound to her leg. The mother was transported to the hospital and later treated and released.
