Ferguson residents will have the opportunity to voice their opinion concerning the recent settlement agreement between the City of Ferguson and the U.S. Department of Justice.
Federal Judge Catherine Perry has scheduled a Fairness Hearing on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at the Thomas Eagleton United States Courthouse at 111 S. 10th Street in Downtown, St. Louis. Residents will have an opportunity to share their opinion of the settlement agreement in front of Judge Perry beginning at 9:30 a.m. Community members are asked to sign up to speak beginning at 8:00 a.m.
If residents are unable to attend the Fairness Hearing, they are asked to mail their comments to Judge Perry before April 12th. The address to send their comments is Attn: Judge Catherine Perry, Thomas Eagleton United States Courthouse, 111 S. 10th Street St. Louis, MO 63102.
Ferguson City Council members approved the settlement agreement on March 15, 2016. The vote avoided the time and cost of litigating the DOJ’s claims and allows the City to continue its focus to ensure constitutional policing and court practices and provides these benefits to the citizens of Ferguson.
