Today, Ferguson City Council Members welcomed the Centene Corporation at a ribbon cutting celebration. The new state-of-the-art facility is located at 2900 Pershall Road. Missouri Senator(s) Claire McCaskill and Roy Blunt greeted the crowd of more than 200 guests, followed by Missouri Governor Jay Nixon.
The state-of-the-art facility has a bistro, fitness center, and on-site early childhood development center, for its employees, as well as, a community center available to the Ferguson community. More than 200 employees will work at the 45,000-square-foot facility.
"This is a real testament to the leadership of Centene," said Ferguson Mayor James Knowles III. "When the corporation approached the City of Ferguson about building a state-of-the-art facility in our city, we knew it would bring a boost to our economy and our confidence as a community," added Knowles.
"The City of Ferguson is resilient," said Ferguson City Manager De'Carlon Seewood. "This is only the beginning of great things that are getting ready to take place in our city," added Seewood.
During the initial stages of negotiations for the development, Centene and the City of Ferguson established benchmarks that included participation for minority and women owned businesses during both the design and construction phase.
