The Ferguson City Council has placed a (2%) business license utility tax increase on the August 2, 2016, ballot. If approved by Ferguson voters, Proposition U would authorize the City of Ferguson to generate additional municipal revenues by increasing the current business license utility tax from (6%) to (8%) on utilities, including companies supplying light, electricity, power, gas, telephone and water.
“If approved by Ferguson voters the City anticipates the two percent increase will allow an additional $700,000 of collections,” said Ferguson City Manager, De’Carlon Seewood.
