Azizah Nur-El Minnis was raised and educated in St. Louis, graduated from St. Mark’s Academy for Girls in St. Louis, MO and attended Creighton University in Omaha, NE. Her family moved to Ferguson in 1980 where she raised her children in the Ferguson-Florissant School District. Azizah served as a City Clerk in two St. Louis County municipalities and as a Legal Secretary to two law firms in St. Louis. As Outreach Coordinator for CHIPS (Community Health and Partnership Services), a non-profit health clinic, she trained and scheduled volunteers to serve as health screeners at Health Fair events throughout the City. She is currently a member of the Soka Gakkai International, a Buddhist Peace Organization spanning over 40+ years. She currently works for the United States Department of Agriculture as a Supervisory Enumerator. She comes to the Ferguson Civilian Review Board with an enthusiasm to serve her community that has given her and her family so much to be thankful for.
